This is a revival of a blog that had a grand total of two (2) posts, like 7 days apart, authored nearly two years ago. I am, perhaps delusionally, hoping that this attempt has a slightly better track record.
This blog is driven by a incredibly limited and basic static site generator that I built bit by bit over uh,,, a few years? The generator itself is open-sourced on my github at hearthsinger/spindrift, although I would caution you against using the thing - it's relatively unwieldy, and only supports a very limited subset of markdown formatting.
I've had a TODO outstanding on this project for years to support RSS feeds, perhaps that'll be the next little improvement to tackle. I did need to go and add a custom batching filter for the page templating system so that I could more readily leave these posts in rows of a limited size. Writing some rust after not having written any for a couple years really kicked my ass.
Refocusing on the blog itself, rather than the underlying nightmare code, I really am not certain what exactly I'll post here. I am to spin up a small webring with a few folks and use it as a nice little haven in an unkind internet, but we're all adults with busy lives and jobs and whatnot. I'm almost shocked that I feel the desire to do any basic coding outside of work at all these days, but that's a rant for later.
I think this site will go live once the webring is set up, which means from the date this is published to the date I make a "hey we did it" post/update the changelog, I will just kinda be pre-seeding the blog with my random thoughts. I will make absolutely zero promises about frequency or topic or what have you, but I will attempt to at least post like, every now and then.
See you in like, less than 2 years, maybe?
